"Nouvelle Vague" Concert on Gediminas Castle Hill
Legendary French Project at the "Šventaragis" Festival
On September 9, 2026, a special evening will be held on Gediminas Castle Hill by "Nouvelle Vague"—the legendary French musical project that has been creating a unique post-punk and bossa nova sound for over two decades.
This concert will be part of the "Šventaragis" festival program "Let's Dream of Vilnius Together" and invites residents and guests of the capital to experience Vilnius differently—through music, city history, and a shared presence in an extraordinary space. The "concert with headphones" format will allow the music to be heard incredibly close—subtly and personally.
Musical Melancholy and an Intimate Experience
"Nouvelle Vague" became world-famous for its unexpected and sensitive interpretations of tracks by bands such as "Joy Division," "The Cure," "Blondie," and "The Clash." In their music, post-punk melancholy blends with a soft bossa nova sound, giving well-known songs a completely different mood—light, atmospheric, and intimate for the evening city. The headphone format will further enhance this intimate musical experience.
Over more than 20 years, the group has performed all over the world—from Europe to Brazil—gaining the attention of both listeners and the authors of the original tracks. Their latest album, "Should I Stay Or Should I Go?", once again proved that "Nouvelle Vague" remains a vibrant and constantly renewing project, capable of presenting familiar music in a fresh way.
Lineup and Atmosphere
The group will arrive in Vilnius as a five-person team, with four performers appearing on stage:
Marc Collin – project founder and keyboardist;
Melanie Pain – vocalist;
Phoebe Killdeer – vocalist;
Guitarist.
A lighting engineer will also join the team to help create an exceptional evening atmosphere on Gediminas Castle Hill.
Cultural Initiative "Let's Dream of Vilnius Together"
The concert takes place within the context of the "Let's Dream of Vilnius Together" project—a first-of-its-kind cultural initiative inviting a look at Vilnius through its legend and the motif of a dream from which, according to lore, the city was born. The project combines history, contemporary art, and a live experience of the city, making Gediminas Castle Hill a natural meeting place for music and people for this evening.
The "Šventaragis" festival program intertwines concerts, theater, education, tours, and a discussion forum, inviting everyone to get to know the capital not just through history, but through today's culture. This time, it is complemented by a special experience—a concert with headphones, allowing every listener to dive even deeper into the evening's atmosphere.
